Follow is CNC normal material introduction:
1. 45 Steel – High-Quality Carbon Structural Steel (Common Medium Carbon Quenched and Tempered Steel)
- Characteristics: Good comprehensive mechanical properties, low hardenability, prone to cracking during water quenching. Small parts are suitable for quenching and tempering, while large parts are better normalized.
- Applications: Used for high-strength moving parts like turbine impellers, compressor pistons, shafts, gears, racks, and worms. For welded parts, preheating and post-weld stress relief are required.
2. Q235A (A3 Steel) – Common Carbon Structural Steel
- Characteristics: High plasticity, toughness, weldability, cold stamping performance, and certain strength with good bending properties.
- Applications: Suitable for general parts and welded structures, such as rods, connectors, pins, shafts, screws, nuts, rings, brackets, machine bases, building structures, bridges, etc.
3. 40Cr Steel – Widely Used Alloy Structural Steel
- Characteristics: After quenching and tempering, it has good mechanical properties and impact toughness with low notch sensitivity. It has good hardenability and fatigue strength under oil cooling. Weldability is poor and requires preheating.
- Applications: Used for gears, shafts, worms, and other components requiring high hardness. Also suitable for parts like crankshafts, spindles, valves, or bearings after various heat treatments.
4. HT150 – Gray Cast Iron
- Applications: Used for gearboxes, machine beds, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, flywheels, cylinder heads, pulleys, bearing covers, etc.
5. 35 Steel – Standard Fastener Material
- Characteristics: Suitable strength, good plasticity, and weldability. It can be locally forged and drawn at cold temperatures.
- Applications: Used for small-section parts and fasteners such as crankshafts, levers, rods, hooks, and rings.
6. 65Mn – Common Spring Steel
- Applications: Used for small flat and round springs, seat springs, spring washers, valve springs, clutch springs, brake springs, circlips, etc.
7. 0Cr18Ni9 – Most Common Stainless Steel (Equivalent to 304 in the USA, SUS304 in Japan)
- Applications: Used in food processing equipment, general chemical equipment, and nuclear energy equipment due to its corrosion and heat resistance.
8. Cr12 Steel – Cold Work Tool Steel (Equivalent to D3 in the USA, SKD1 in Japan)
- Characteristics: High carbon, high chromium steel with excellent wear resistance but low impact toughness.
- Applications: Suitable for cold stamping dies, punch tools, trimming dies, wire drawing dies, and more.
9. DC53 Steel – High Toughness Cold Work Tool Steel from Japan
- Applications: Used for precision cold stamping dies, threading dies, and punches due to its high hardness and toughness.
10. DCCr12MoV – Wear-Resistant Chromium Steel
- Characteristics: Higher toughness than Cr12 due to added molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V), which improve carbide distribution.
- Applications: Used for large and complex molds, cold extrusion dies, and cutting tools.
11. SKD11 Steel – Tough Chromium Steel
- Applications: Used for molds requiring high durability, such as cold stamping and drawing dies.
12. D2 Steel – High Carbon, High Chromium Cold Work Steel
- Applications: Suitable for precision tools and dies due to its high wear resistance and dimensional stability during heat treatment.
These materials cover a wide range of mechanical and mold applications, from structural components to high-precision tooling, each with unique properties tailored to specific use cases.
13. SKD11 (SLD) – High Toughness, Non-Deforming Steel
- Applications: Used for demanding molds, such as deep drawing dies and abrasive wheel molds.
14. DC53 Steel – High Chromium, High Toughness Steel
- Characteristics: Twice as tough as SKD11, suitable for cold work molds with minimal cracking.
- Applications: Used for precision stamping molds and deep drawing dies.
15. SKH-9 Steel – General High-Speed Steel
- Applications: Used for cold forging molds, cutting tools, drills, and punches due to its excellent toughness.
16. ASP-23 – Powder Metallurgy High-Speed Steel from Sweden
- Applications: Used for long-lasting tools like punches, deep drawing dies, drills, and milling cutters.
17. P20 Steel – Plastic Mold Steel
- Applications: Used for general plastic molds. Pre-hardened to HB270-300.
18. 718 Steel – High-Quality Plastic Mold Steel
- Applications: Suitable for high-precision molds, especially those requiring electrical discharge machining (EDM).
