What is the difference between standard parts and non-standard parts?

Yuhuan hognqian machinery co.,ltd is focus on oem cnc parts area many years in china . but for mostly new customers they are no idea about standard cnc parts and nonstandard cnc parts . As a professional cnc machining part factory ,today we focus on analyzing and introducing the different between stand parts and nonstand parts .

The object of cnc machining parts is divide into standard parts and nonstandard parts .and obviously that the nonstandard parts is more accuracy and difficult for production .

What is a Standard Part?

Standard parts are commonly used mechanical components that have been fully standardized in terms of structure, size, drawings, marking, and other aspects, and are produced by specialized factories. These parts are divided into two categories: generalized standard parts and narrowly defined standard parts.

Generalized Standard Parts

Generalized standard parts, also known as general-purpose parts, are mechanical components with clearly defined standards. These standards include Chinese National Standards (GB), American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards (ANSI/ASME), Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), German standards (DIN), and others that are widely adopted globally. Mechanical parts and components with a high degree of standardization and broad industry applicability fall into this category. Examples include:fasteners(Bolts, nuts, screws, washers, rivets).Connectors(Electrical connectors, pipe connectors, hose connectors).Transmission Parts(Gears, belts, chains, shafts).Seals:(O-rings, gaskets, oil seals).Hydraulic Components:(Pumps, valves, cylinders).Pneumatic Components(Compressors, actuators, air filters)Bearings(Ball bearings, roller bearings, thrust bearings)Springs( Compression springs, tension springs, torsion springs)

These parts are highly standardized, ensuring they meet specific criteria for performance and compatibility. Their extensive use across various industries underscores their importance in modern engineering and manufacturing.

Narrowly Defined Standard Parts

Narrowly defined standard parts, often referred to simply as “standard parts,” are standardized fasteners. These are essentially a type of connecting component but are categorized separately due to their wide variety and extensive application. Common examples include:screw ,washer ,rivet, welding studs.

Despite being a subset of fasteners, these narrowly defined standard parts are crucial for ensuring the integrity and durability of assemblies in numerous applications.

Non-standard Parts

Non-standard precision parts are specialized components that do not conform to established national or international standard specifications. They are custom-designed and manufactured to meet specific requirements provided by cnc machining part customers. Due to the lack of standardization, these parts are freely controlled and processed by the manufacturing enterprise, resulting in a diverse range of products without a standardized classification system.

Characteristics of Non-standard Precision Parts

Custom Design: Non-standard precision parts are produced based on detailed drawings and specifications provided by customers. These drawings outline the exact dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish required for the part.

No Standard Specifications: Unlike standard parts, non-standard precision parts do not adhere to any pre-established standards. This allows for greater flexibility in design but also requires meticulous quality control during production.

High Variability: The process of creating non-standard parts is highly variable and complex, often involving multiple stages from casting to finishing. Each stage must meet the specific quality requirements set by the customer.

Higher Costs: Due to the custom nature of these parts and the detailed manufacturing processes involved, the cost of producing non-standard precision parts is generally higher than that of standard parts.

Generally speaking, the cost of non-standard parts will be higher than that of standard parts, and the process in cnc custom parts will face more challege  .

For example that standard parts  could sell in eaby cnc parts shop , hardware shop , internet sell . But non-standard parts is oem cnc parts ,cnc custom parts . is unique . Once the accuracy is not satisfy cnc machined parts buyers demand .It will cause big loss . So it also high demand for company quality control, technical .

company management ,staff ability . Oem cnc parts is a big risk area ,everyday face challenge ,everyday meet headache problem to solve . but it is also a big market .
